The Village is a collection that I made to give homage to siblings and also community. There’s nothing more undeniable then the bond of the sibling experience. This project manifested when I engaged in my first protest this past summer for George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

Participating in my community coming together and seeing them fight for equality, led me to this feeling of awareness and liberation. It also inspired me to re-create that same energy in a sculptural installation. Along with my renewed love of sculpture, birthed during this time of civil unrest, these elements allowed me to marry that experience with my passion for 3D art and activism.

My intention is for the viewer to be surrounded by different cultural nuances, such as spiritual relics and ceramic plants. These elements are symbolic of daily life in the Village. Also allowing the audience to feel apart of the daily ritual and enviroment of the sibling. This gives the visiter a chance to take a piece of the Village with them.

As a sculptor and painter, I draw inspiration from my rich background and personal style to explore themes of Black history and women’s empowerment. Through my art, I aim to highlight the narratives and experiences of Black women, creating pieces that resonate with strength, resilience, and beauty.
